Yacht Generously Equipped With:
From the beginning of their company in 1922, Christopher Columbus Smith and his four sons delivered superior design, craftsmanship, and manufacturing skill, which allowed the company to become the largest builder of both wood boats and power boats by the 1950s (more than 8,000 boats per year!)
In the early 1960s, the competition between the traditional craftsmanship of wood boats and the lower manufacturing and maintenance costs for fiberglass or metal were becoming apparent, even at Chris Craft. The desire of buyers to have a "modern" plastic or aluminum boat resulted in the company delivering their last wood boat in 1972, a 57' Constellation, to NFL Commissioner Pete Roselle. The Chris Craft name continues today, but appears only on modern plastic boats, with no involvement of the Smith family in the current operation of the company.
From 1964 to 1968, Chris Craft built only eleven 65' Constellations, with the Victoria being the first hull of that production run. The 65' Constellation was their flagship, representing the ultimate expression of their long history of designing and building beautifully crafted wooden boats. With the coming of fiberglass in the early 1970s, the impossibility of obtaining the fine woods from throughout the world, and the declining number of craftsmen able to create such masterpieves, the Victoria represents the grace and beauty of a bygone era. The boat could not be duplicated today at any price.
We estimate that only 4 of the original production of 65' Constellations are still in existence, allowing our guests a truly unique charter experience. Come aboard and experience the elegance and graciousnes of a time when life moved at a much slower pace. Reading or sunning oneself on deck, relaxing during a cruise of Newport Harbor, watching the sunset, or sitting in front of the fireplace while watching a favorite movie - what a great way to escape the hectic pace of life in Southern California! And what better way to do it than in the company of some carefully chosen friends or business colleagues?
